This week's morning shoot was luxurious as it was neither early or nor cold. As Maui doesn't have a reputation for either. The only really challenge was that we are staying on the west side of Maui so my sunrise images would be looking away from the sun hopefully capturing the warm light instead of my usual habit of shooting into the sun.
But the weather did not completely cooperate. The sun rose over the West Maui Mountains in a cloud bank which pretty muted the sunrise. So I went to plan B and took advantage of the nice soft light and shot some of the local flora and fauna.
This is one of those photographic genres that the more I try it, the more respect I have for those who do it well.
Eventually the sun broke through the clouds hanging over the mountains and threw a touch of color at the western sky. Just enough from me to frame this lone canoer paddling out.
